Hand Burned and Stained Wood Art

Inspired by Fire, Finding, & the Open Road.

Rustic Wood Panel with Burned FIRE Text.png

Woodburning is a slow, hands-on process. Using a heated tool, I draw directly into the surface of the wood, building lines, shadows, and texture through heat and pressure. Every mark is permanent. Every piece of wood responds a little differently.

What starts as a blank piece of birch gradually becomes something entirely its own. There is no printing a second copy, and no two pieces of wood are exactly alike. The character of the grain becomes part of the finished artwork.

For me, that's the appeal of woodburning: taking something as simple as wood and fire and using them to create something lasting.

The world is full of things worth burning into wood.

Some of my favorite subjects come from places I've traveled. A landscape, an unusual rock formation, a stretch of highway, or a detail in a town can stick with me long after I've moved on.

The Double arches in Utah are one example of how a place can become a piece of art. I take the shapes, textures, and details that caught my attention and work them into the wood, one burn at a time.

The goal isn't simply to reproduce a photograph. It's to capture something about the place that made me stop and look.

As I travel, I’ll be adding new woodburned pieces inspired by the landscapes I encounter, the people I meet, and the stories they share. This gallery will grow along the way, documenting the places and experiences that find their way into my work.

Sometimes an idea begins with a place. Sometimes it begins with a person and a story they want to preserve. If there’s a landscape, a meaningful memory, or a place close to your heart that you’d like to see brought to life in wood, I’d love to hear about it. Custom commissions are welcome.

The journey is always changing, and the work will change with it. Thanks for being part of the road ahead.
